Curt Clonts was born in Wichita, Kansas in 1959. He was a student of regionalist painter Maleta Forsberg, and of nationally known painter James “Jim” Gross. Clonts is a veteran of over 30 solo exhibitions, most recently at Leedy-Volkous Art in Kansas City, Mo., and The Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery in Lindsborg, Kansas. He was the Artist-In-Residence at Friends University from 2006 to 2013.
Clonts was an on-air commentator (“An Artist’s Perspective) for KMUW 89.1 FM, (Wichita NPR Affiliate). He is featured in the book “Wichita Artists In Their Studios” by Sondra Langel (published in 2016). His paintings are featured in prominent collections including Wichita Art Museum Permanent Collection, Emprise Bank Permanent Collection, MARKArts Permanent Collection, The Paula and Barry Downing Collection, and The Vantage Point Properties Collection. Clonts paints daily at his studio and home in the College Hill neighborhood of Wichita, Kansas, where he lives with his Wife, Taeko, two dogs and a cat.
